What It Is: The LSU (Laser Scanner Unit), also called the Lower Scanner or Imaging Scanner - the internal laser optics assembly that scans the laser beam across the drum to form the print image. A failing LSU causes blank pages, faded or streaky printing, vertical white bands down the page, or the printer refusing to print with a scanner-error code on the display.
