What It Is: The Formatter Board / Logic Board (also called the Main PCB Board, Motherboard, MPCA or MLC) - the laser printer's central circuit board that controls the laser print engine, toner cartridge communication, and USB/network connectivity. A faulty formatter board causes the printer to appear completely dead with no lights, go unresponsive or stuck in a boot/restart loop, throw a persistent error or blinking-light fault code, or fail to be detected by the connected computer even though it powers on.
