What It Is: The PCR Roller (Primary Charge Roller) - the conductive rubber roller inside a toner cartridge that applies a uniform electrical charge to the drum surface before the laser writes the image onto it, a genuinely distinct part from the Magnetic Rod/Developer Roller below. A worn, glazed or damaged PCR causes patchy grey background/fogging across the page, vertical banding, or uneven print density.
