What It Is: The Magnetic Rod / Magnet Roller (sometimes labeled MR) - the magnetically-cored sleeve inside a toner cartridge that carries a thin, even layer of toner from the hopper onto the drum for each print cycle. A worn, pitted or demagnetized magnetic rod causes light or patchy print density, toner spilling loosely inside the cartridge, or vertical white streaks down the page.
