What It Is: The Pickup Assembly Sensor (also sold as the Paper Path Unit Sensor, Paper Guide Sensor or Paper Pickup Assembly Sensor) - a small optical sensor mounted in the paper path that detects a sheet as it's pulled from the tray, so the printer knows pickup has actually happened. A faulty pickup assembly sensor causes a false 'no paper' error with paper loaded, the printer failing to register a pickup at all, or a paper-jam error immediately after the page is picked.
