What It Is: The Transfer Roller (also called the Primary Transfer Roller or PTR) - the charged roller that sits beneath the imaging drum and pulls the toner image off the drum onto the page as it passes through. A worn, glazed or contaminated transfer roller causes faded or patchy print density, toner speckling or smudging on the back of the page, or vertical white streaks running down every printout.
