What It Is: The Cap Unit / Cap Assembly / Ink Capping Unit (also called the Maintenance Unit or Capping Station) - the print-head capping/parking station that seals the nozzles when the printer is idle and draws waste ink into the maintenance system during cleaning cycles. A worn or clogged cap unit causes poor nozzle sealing (leading to dried or clogged nozzles), ink leaking around the parked head, a failed nozzle check, or repeated cleaning-cycle and ink-system error messages.
